The Congressional Betrayal of America

by Edward Cline  (October 6, 2008) CAPITALISM MAGAZINE

To his pathetic, costly and destructive legacy President George W. Bush has added the $700 billion Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (H.R. 1424) passed by a corrupted Congress on October 3. He anxiously signed it into law less than ninety minutes after it was passed, as though it might vanish before his signature could make it real. He lobbied heavily in the Senate and the House to push it through.

There is an historic parallel to his anxiety, that of George Grenville, prime minister of Great Britain in 1765, who, aware of his unpopularity, pushed through a corrupt Parliament the Stamp Act over the objections of the American colonists and many members of Parliament in order to leave his own legacy of economic solvency.

Who knows what arm-twisting, browbeating, and threats were employed to persuade recalcitrant members of the House to drop their objections to the virtual nationalization of the economy and the granting of dictatorial powers to Henry Paulson, Secretary of the Treasury? Perhaps one or two members of the House opposed the bill for the right reasons. The others, having no moral grounds to their opposition, could do little else but surrender to Bush's efforts.  Click Here To Read the Full Article

Petroleum

As we state on our policy page, we believe that petroleum will continue to be the primary fuel source driving the economic engine of the United States.  We are in support of technologies such as hybrid to conserve fuel, decrease emissions, and lessen our dependence on foreign sources of oil.

We also believe the United States needs to begin harvesting or at least preparing to harvest its vast petroleum reserves to protect itself from the potential for economic blackmail from our trading partners.

The Case for Diesel
As we state on our policy page, we believe that hybrid technology is a viable common-sense alternative for America's consumers.  But, ultimately, the consumer needs to decide what the best energy option is.

Diesel probably conjures thoughts of dirty black smoke and a terrible choking smell...not anymore.  Volkswagen,  Mercedes, Honda, Audi, and BMW have developed clean diesel technology that reduces emissions and enery consumption.  Some of these cars, like the VW Polo get 74.3 mpg!  What's the problem?  Read the Popular Mechanics story.

Glenn Beck's Real Story - Energy Independence
If it takes hearing it with your own ears and seeing it with your own eyes.....here it is.  Thirty years of politicians doing little more than talk about energy policy.  Those who have done more than just talk are responsible for the damning policies that limit our domestic production of our own energy.
